The people you need to meat.
It takes a passionate group of people to make À La Carte Meats successful.
Geoff Atkinson – Managing Director
After spending his childhood weekends travelling around the rural areas of Mackay with his father and grandfather to buy cattle for the family butchery, it is no wonder that Geoff Atkinson developed a passion for the Australian meat industry and started his own retail butcher shop when he was only 25 years old. As a youngster listening to the casual comments of long-term cattle growers, butchers and chefs, Geoff also developed a vision to create a wholesale meat service and range of meat products that better meet the needs of the oft-forgotten “middle” market such as smaller butchers and other fresh meat retailers, and the wide range of foodservice outlets like restaurants, caterers, cafes and fast food outlets. He established a number of small Australian meat boning rooms to service local markets, and built strong relationships with some of the leading Australian cattle and sheep growers and processors in the industry. It is this lifetime of working in the Australian meat industry and listening to those who work at the coalface of the meat business on a daily basis that Geoff has developed strong and clear philosophies that are making a difference.
Adrian Cronin –
Adrian has worked in the Australian meat industry his whole life, starting at Beak & Johnston as an apprentice butcher and working his way to management roles in quality assurance, research and development, purchasing, production and commercial sales. As a qualified butcher with qualifications in food science and business, those roles gave Adrian an extensive knowledge of the meat and food industries. It was a no-brainer for Adrian to move from Sydney to Brisbane in 2013 to take on a much broader role with À La Carte Meats as it expands and strengthens its market position.
Melissa Makepeace –
Quality Assurance Manager
One of the top priorities at À la Carte is maintaining its high standards for Quality as well as Health and Safety, this is where Melissa rules the roost. Melissa ensures that the manufacturing processes comply with industry standards at both national and international levels. That our products and services are consistent, whilst ensuring that all employees throughout the organisation, adhere to the strict quality management systems in place, in order to function like clockwork.
Nicole Moio –
Nicole is the senior finance whiz at À La Carte Meats from its inception in 2006. Previously working in various roles at Beak & Johnston, she started in accounts payable and then moved to assistant accountant, as well as gaining experience in production, coordinating raw material ordering, planning and yield management. If you have any questions about billing, invoicing or payments, please give Nicole a call.
Dave McDonald –
Dave has spent his whole life in the meat industry, growing up on a sheep and cattle property at Blackall in central western Queensland and working on a number of cattle stations in the Gulf of Carpentaria and Northern Territory. Since completing a Bachelor of Business, Agribusiness at UQ in 1997, Dave has been actively involved in the meat industry, in particular the processing and marketing of beef and lamb in both domestic and international markets.
Paul Clack – Sales
There is one thing about the meat and hospitality industry – if you don’t understand people’s needs and enjoy the business, you will not survive. Testimony to his personality and industry knowledge is Paul. Not only has Paul worked in hospitality for 40 years but he has gained himself 28 years in the meat industry, including working with À La Carte Meats since 2006. While Paul’s industry knowledge and high level of service is greatly appreciated… what our suppliers and customers value most, is his ability to work well within a team, whilst catering the best options for their needs.
Scott Brampton – Maintenance Manager
Scott has been with À L Carte Meats since the start of 2012 and controls many aspects, including running our warehousing, logistics as well as purchasing, procurement, dry goods and stock control. With more than 10 years in a similar role at Australian Country Choice, and over nine years in managing white goods, refrigerated warehousing and logistics, Scott definitely brings a great deal of experience to the company.
Matt Davis –
Matt started his career in the Navy before leaving to get his apprenticeship in the meat industry as a butcher. After a number of years working in different roles across several businesses, Matt joined À La Carte Meats in 2010 and became part of the team, gaining even more experience in several roles and is now a Production Manager.
